The Q-Redew is a great product to use if you want a steamer that is specifically for hair and it comes with the convenience of a wide tooth comb attachment.
Steaming natural hair opens up the cuticles so that you can more effectively hydrate and moisturize your hair. You may find steaming particularly helpful if…
- You have low porosity hair; hair that is resistant to moisture (not sure what your porosity is? find out here.)
- It’s challenging to detangle your hair and you need a gentle way to smooth out tangles
- You need a way to hydrate your hair without being too heavy handed with products
The benefits of using steam include:
- The steam smoothed my tangles
- It cut down on detangling time tremendously
- Only a little product was needed to achieve moisturized hair (this will save me from product buildup and keep more money in my pockets)!
- Improved manageability
- I two strand twisted my hair when I was done and the curls were super defined
Hack!
I really wanted to try steaming right away and wanted to save some coins so I ended up using a clothes steamer.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one who thought of this idea! (see the above video) Using this steamer, I still got great results. Since it is not specifically designed for hair you have to avoid tilting the clothes steamer to avoid getting hot water on you and as ByLungi demonstrates in the above video it is a good idea to wrap a towel around your neck.
Other than that, it is easy to use and this hack still works just as well. However, if you do want the convenience of a product that is specifically made for hair and can be used to steam your skin the Q-Redew is a worthwhile investment.
